DISCOVERING TAVETA: A WANDERER’S ROAD.

DISCOVERING TAVETA: A WANDERER’S ROAD.

Many of life’s greatest stories begin with a couple of friends, randomly deciding to jump in a car and drive somewhere. You roll down the windows, turn up the tunes and cruise into brand new adventures. Indeed, there’s nothing better than a good ol’ fashioned road trip.

We recently took one to Taveta on an assignment for Grogan Castle and realized there is so much to see just from the convenience of your car 🙂 Wildlife and photogenic landscapes are plenty in Taveta county.

WASP & SPROUT, A WONDERFUL QUIRKY CAFE

WASP & SPROUT, A WONDERFUL QUIRKY CAFE

Wasp and Sprout is a wonderful quirky cafe/coffee boutique hidden away in the Old Loresho Shopping centre. It’s perfect for those Instagram snaps with its design, colors and rustic feel. Don’t we all love to dine in a cafe or restaurant with great ambience? But not many places in Nairobi offer this due to either space constraint or poor decorations/color combinations. For us dining in places where space isn’t an issue, with ample privacy, or sometimes just in places where colors and layout are pleasing to the eye is an added perk! Good natural lighting is a big plus point too Instagrammers can relate.

HALLER PARK- A BEAUTIFUL ECOLOGICAL SANCTUARY IN MOMBASA

Haller Park, a gorgeous sanctuary in Bamburi, previously known as Bamburi Quarry Nature Trail. It is now named after the founder, Dr. René Haller, who has done the unthinkable and managed to transform barren limestone quarries into what is now a thriving ecosystem of forest, grasslands and ponds. Haller Park is situated on the North Coast of Mombasa along the Mombasa Malindi road, next to the Bamburi Cement factory.

LAKE OLOIDEN CAMPSITE

LAKE OLOIDEN CAMPSITE

We all wish we could escape to our favorite hole or walk away from work.Well, not really but equally as enticing (for us at this moment), is camping.

When we think about going camping in Kenya, especially if you are in Nairobi, the first thing that comes to mind is the lovely stretch along Lake Naivasha which includes several campsites such as Fishermans, Cray Fish and Camp Carnelley’s. All great places but sometimes you just want to get off the beaten track without having to venture too much further. Lake Oloiden is where it’s at.
