We recently had an opportunity to explore Mara Serena Safari Lodge. It’s located within Mara Triangle of the Masai Mara National Reserve. We had been eyeing this lodge for quite sometime. Our luck came knocking with a group of friends who were visiting Kenya on work assignment and they decided to tag us on their short Safari. Masai Mara National Reserve is not under the management of Kenya Wildlife Service. Narok County government manages the most visited eastern part of the park while Trans-Mara County Council oversees the western part commonly known as Mara Triangle
Our flight from Wilson Airport took 40 minutes and we landed at the Mara Serena Airstrip. However, you can access Masai Mara via road which takes approximately 6 hours. Being a wildlife migration high peak season, the airstrip was a beehive of activities with lots of vans ferrying tourists to the hotels.
Mara Serena Safari Lodge
The lodge seated high on a central Mara hill, offering some of the best views in the reserve. One could easily see the banks of Mara river, not to mention the incredible views of the landscape teeming with wildlife, spectacular! We were welcomed by a group of Masai men who were chanting cultural hymns.
The lodge was designed in a traditional African bush encampment style with incredible views of the vast and beautiful Mara. At instances we saw warthogs and chameleons walking around.

Our Lodge Room emanated good taste with ethnic decor, great comfort and restrained luxury. We managed to immerse ourselves in the beauty of surroundings with uninterrupted views of Mara from the enviable balcony (honeymooners would thrive here!)
Crafted with the finest local and seasonal ingredients, the food at Mara Serena Safari Lodge took us on a culinary journey like no other. Whether dining in the main restaurant, greeting the sunrise with breakfast by the hippo-filled Mara River or toasting the sunset with “Sundowner” cocktails and canapés in the bush, be ready to be treated to an unforgettable dining experience with every meal. We also got to enjoy a traditional Masai dance performance at the main restaurants which happens three times a week.
Maisha Spa & Gym in the heart of the Mara?… dunno but lets see!
Well, if you crave a body treatment or want to put in a workout, Serena Maisha Spa & Gym is a tranquil sanctuary of replenishment, relaxation and rejuvenation. Designed in a traditional Masai Manyatta, the spa features two dedicated treatment rooms with en suite showers, a sauna, a steam shower, a relaxation area and a juice bar.
Enjoy, relax, soak, and unwind at the Pool
This is after a game drive or even a chilled out afternoon. Be ready to spend countless hours by the pool, if you plan on doing Mara Serena safari lodge the right way.
From what we witnessed the lodge is the height of good living that we need to get coins for! Till our next adventure…….
