DISCOVERING TAVETA: A WANDERER’S ROAD.

Many of life’s greatest stories begin with a couple of friends, randomly deciding to jump in a car and drive somewhere. You roll down the windows, turn up the tunes and cruise into brand new adventures. Indeed, there’s nothing better than a good ol’ fashioned road trip.

We recently took one to Taveta on an assignment for Grogan Castle and realized there is so much to see just from the convenience of your car 🙂 Wildlife and photogenic landscapes are plenty in Taveta county.

TAITA HILLS

The Taita Hills are part of the Eastern Arc mountain range that stretches into Tanzania with the Usambara Mountains as part of the chain. The hills are known for their moist forests with unique fauna and flora.

TSAVO WEST NATIONAL PARK

The park is the most extensive national park in Kenya, sometimes referred to as the ‘theatre of wild animals. We were able to spot lots and lots of wildlife that were feeding near the road. Funny thing is they appeared calm and made it easy for us to take pictures.

LAKE JIPE

Lake Jipe is an inter-territorial lake straddling the borders of Tanzania and Kenya. On the Tanzanian side, it is situated within Mwanga District, in Kilimanjaro Region while on the Kenyan hand, the village of Nghonji borders the Lake. Jipe has lots of hippos so be careful.
